DOJ Seizes Holmby Hills Mega-Mansion Owned by Corrupt Armenian Government Official

The U.S. government has seized a lavish 33,000 sqft mansion on Billionaires Row in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles, known as "Le Chateau de Mapleton." This action follows revelations that the property was purchased using bribes by Gagik Khachatryan, a former high-ranking Armenian politician, and his sons, Gurgen and Artyom. The estate, featuring 11 bedrooms and 27 bathrooms, was acquired through funds laundered by an Armenian businessman seeking favorable tax rates from Khachatryan. Federal prosecutors unearthed that the funds were disguised as loans that were never repaid, essentially functioning as bribes. The Khachatryans are now facing criminal charges in Armenia, while the U.S. government plans to sell the mansion, covering any debts and keeping the remaining proceeds in the U.S. Treasury.
