The law, AB 1955, aims to protect transgender students from being outed to their parents without consent, sparking cheers from LGBTQ activists but backlash from Musk. Musk, who has a transgender child, called the law "the final straw." As a result, the Chino Valley Unified School District has filed a lawsuit, claiming the law infringes on parents' rights. The debate continues around the parental notification policies being adopted or considered by various school districts in California.
