The Line Fire Ripping Through San Bernardino County Was Arson, Officials Say

Justin Wayne Halstenberg, 34, has been arrested by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department under arson charges for starting the Line Fire, which has ravaged nearly 35,000 acres in Southern California. The fire, which began last Thursday in Highland, has led to school closures, evacuations, and significant property damage, with its containment currently at only 14%. As many as 2,000 firefighters are combating the wildfire that threatens around 65,000 structures in the region, including homes and critical infrastructure. The ongoing heatwave and dry conditions have exacerbated the efforts to control the fire. In addition, other wildfires like the Airport Fire in Orange County and the Bridge Fire in Los Angeles and Riverside Counties are also tearing through vast areas, prompting mandatory evacuations.
