Amid financial challenges faced by its parent company, Paramount Global, MTV News has been erased from the internet, taking with it decades of music journalism. Known for iconic columns like “Mixtape Monday” and pivotal news coverage, the site’s entire archive, including sister site CMT.com, has vanished. Crystal Bell, former MTV News entertainment director, and longtime Rolling Stone writer Brian Hiatt have expressed their dismay over the loss, noting the impact on music history research material. As some speculate that the content might still exist on the Wayback Machine, limitations mean much of the older content remains inaccessible.
