Congress Orders Release of Epstein Files as Trump Sparks New Controversy
Both the House and Senate have voted to require the Justice Department to release all files related to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, a move President Trump now says he will sign after abruptly reversing course. The decision comes amid renewed scrutiny of Trump, who snapped “Quiet, Piggy” at a Bloomberg reporter aboard Air Force One when asked about the records. The legislation gives the DOJ 30 days to make the files public, with limited exceptions for sensitive information.

Judge Orders Suspected Palisades Fire Starter to Remain in Federal Custody
A federal judge has ruled that Jonathan Rinderknecht, the former Uber driver accused of intentionally setting the small New Year’s Day blaze that later grew into the deadly Palisades fire, will remain behind bars while awaiting trial. Prosecutors say he hiked into Topanga State Park and sparked a fire that smoldered underground for days before erupting into an inferno that killed twelve and destroyed thousands of homes and businesses. Rinderknecht has pleaded not guilty to three federal arson charges.
A-list Directors Launch $25 Million Revival of Westwood’s Historic Village Theatre
Filmmaker Jason Reitman and a circle of top directors are joining forces with the American Cinematheque to bring Westwood’s century-old Village Theatre back to life. The group plans a 25 million restoration that will transform the landmark into a year-round hub for premieres, filmmaker panels, award season events and curated screenings. Slated to reopen in 2027, the revamped venue will feature a reimagined lobby with museum pieces, retail kiosks and new gathering spaces designed to celebrate the art of film.
LA County Parents Convicted in Horrific Murder and Abuse Case
A Lancaster couple was convicted Tuesday of killing and decapitating their 13-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son in 2020, and of abusing their two younger boys by forcing them to view the bodies and starving them for days. Prosecutors detailed how Maurice Taylor Sr. and Natalie Brothwell inflicted the violence inside their family home before Brothwell fled and was later captured in Arizona. The surviving brothers, now teenagers, were placed in protective custody, and the couple faces life in prison when sentenced in January 2026.
Hilarity for Charity Hosts Star-Filled Friendsgiving to Support Alzheimer’s Caregivers
Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen brought comedy, music and heart to DTLA for Hilarity for Charity’s annual Friendsgiving fundraiser, where more than 500 guests braved the rain for performances by Tig Notaro, Kumail Nanjiani, Asi Wind and Hayley Williams.
