LA Sheriff Condemns Starbucks After Deputy Given Pig-Drawn Coffee Cup

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna criticized Starbucks after a deputy received a coffee cup with a hand drawn pig at a Norwalk location while working a 16 hour shift. Luna called the incident offensive and unacceptable, saying it undermines trust in public safety. The deputy said the experience felt discouraging after a long day of service. Starbucks later apologized, explaining the drawing was meant to reference a popular internet meme, not target law enforcement.

Rams Survive Panthers, Advance to Divisional Round in Chicago

The Rams survived a late Carolina surge and special teams miscues to escape with a 34-31 playoff win over the Panthers, thanks to a clutch fourth-quarter performance from Matthew Stafford. After falling behind on a blocked punt touchdown, Stafford led a 71-yard game-winning drive capped by a Colby Parkinson touchdown with 38 seconds left. Puka Nacua powered the offense with two scores, and the Rams now head to Chicago for a divisional round matchup with the Bears.

Walmart and Wing Expand Drone Delivery to Los Angeles and 150 Stores Nationwide

Walmart and Alphabet-owned Wing are set to dramatically expand drone delivery, bringing 30-minute service to Los Angeles and 149 other Walmart locations over the next year. The rollout could reach 40 million additional customers and build toward 270 stores by 2027, but it also arrives amid growing concerns over noise, safety, and privacy as delivery drones become more common in major cities.

CEO of Paul Newman–Founded Children’s Camp Arrested on Embezzlement Charges

Los Angeles prosecutors have arrested Christopher L. Butler, the longtime CEO of The Painted Turtle, a Santa Monica nonprofit founded by Paul Newman to serve children with serious medical conditions. Authorities allege Butler embezzled $5.2 million from the charity and charged him with 15 felonies, including grand theft, forgery, and fraudulent computer use. The case raises questions about oversight at the nonprofit, part of Newman’s SeriousFun network, as Butler is set to appear in court later this month.
