Government Seeks 11-Year Prison Term for Sean “Diddy” Combs

Federal prosecutors are urging a judge to sentence Sean “Diddy” Combs to more than 11 years in prison on Mann Act charges, far exceeding the expected term. In an extensive filing, the government called Combs “unrepentant” and cited emotional victim impact statements from Cassie Ventura and others, while his defense team argues for time served. Sentencing is set for Friday, October 3.

DOJ Sues LA Sheriff’s Department Over Concealed Carry Delays

Federal prosecutors have filed a civil rights lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, alleging it systematically denied thousands of residents their constitutional right to carry concealed weapons. Industry leaders warn such a move could disrupt Hollywood’s reliance on international production hubs in Canada, the U.K., and Australia, threatening U.S. jobs and billions in exports. The announcement, which reignites Trump’s feud with Gov. Gavin Newsom, adds new uncertainty for an industry already struggling to rebound from pandemic-era box office declines.

The LAPD has released a statement on the ongoing investigation into the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose body was discovered earlier this month in the trunk of a Tesla registered to musician D4vd. Officials confirmed the cause of death remains deferred pending toxicology results, while the Robbery-Homicide Division continues to examine the case. The update comes as vigils and a memorial service honor the teen, with lingering questions surrounding her final days and potential ties to the singer.

NBCUniversal programming may vanish from YouTube TV as soon as tonight if the two companies fail to renew their expiring carriage deal. At the heart of the dispute is YouTube TV’s demand for streaming rights that NBC currently reserves for its own Peacock platform—a clash that could impact millions of subscribers. The standoff echoes past high-stakes negotiations and foreshadows even bigger battles with Disney and ESPN later this year.
