Hundreds Arrested, Two Officers Injured on First Night of DTLA Curfew

More than 200 people were arrested in Downtown Los Angeles during the first night of a citywide curfew imposed by Mayor Karen Bass amid ongoing protests. Charges ranged from curfew violations to illegal gun possession and assault on police officers. Two LAPD officers were injured as law enforcement deployed less-lethal rounds to control violent confrontations. The curfew, which followed widespread vandalism and looting, is expected to remain in effect for several days.

DHS Launches Immigration Hotline Urging Public to Report “Foreign Invaders”

The Trump administration has unveiled a new Department of Homeland Security hotline encouraging Americans to report undocumented immigrants—referred to in DHS materials as “foreign invaders.” A government flyer promoting the effort is drawing backlash for its resemblance to Cold War-era propaganda. The move comes amid a surge in ICE raids across California and nationwide, with thousands already arrested and public unrest growing.

Glendale Cuts Ties With ICE After 18 Years, Citing Community Trust and Safety

In response to rising public concern and recent immigration raids across Los Angeles, Glendale has officially ended its 18-year contract with ICE and Homeland Security. City officials emphasized the move was about upholding local values—public safety, accountability, and trust—not politics. Advocates say the decision brings Glendale into compliance with California’s SB 54, which limits cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.

Elon Musk Says He Regrets Harsh Posts About Trump Amid Feud

Elon Musk took to X on Wednesday to express regret over recent posts attacking Donald Trump, including a now-deleted claim linking the former president to Jeffrey Epstein. The two have been publicly sparring over a proposed budget bill that would end EV tax credits and raise the deficit—policies Musk says will trigger a recession. Trump, in turn, has dismissed the rift, warning Musk against aiding Democrats in future elections.

Newsom Warns of Rising Authoritarianism in Fiery Address Targeting Trump

In a statewide address Tuesday night, Governor Gavin Newsom accused President Trump of escalating violence in Los Angeles by deploying military forces during ongoing ICE protest unrest. Calling the move illegal and authoritarian, Newsom urged Californians to resist what he called a growing assault on democracy. He concluded by encouraging peaceful civic action and affirming that “the most important office is the office of the citizen.”
