LAFD Union Leaders Suspended After $800K Audit Fallout

Three top officials of the Los Angeles firefighters union have been suspended following a damning audit that uncovered more than $800,000 in undocumented spending. The International Association of Fire Fighters has placed the local chapter under emergency conservatorship, citing a “failure of fiduciary responsibility.” Among the findings: thousands of credit card transactions with no receipts and alleged continued misuse of funds despite prior warnings. One of the suspended leaders has publicly denied the allegations, calling them politically motivated.
