Mayor Bass Declines to Call for Removal of LA28 Chair Casey Wasserman

Mayor Karen Bass says she will not push for the removal of LA28 Olympics chair Casey Wasserman, despite growing calls from local leaders following the release of Epstein files that include sexually explicit emails between Wasserman and Ghislaine Maxwell. While several Los Angeles officials have urged Wasserman to step down, Bass said any decision about LA28 leadership must be made by its board as the city prepares to host the 2028 Olympic Games.

Clippers Trade James Harden to Cavaliers in Deadline Deal

The Los Angeles Clippers have traded James Harden to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for guard Darius Garland and a 2026 second-round pick as the NBA trade deadline approaches. Harden, who averaged more than 21 points per game during his time in Los Angeles, said the move was mutual and part of the business of the league. Garland, a former All-Star currently sidelined by injury, arrives on a long-term contract as the Clippers prepare to face Cleveland tonight at the Intuit Dome.

Neo Langston’s Brief Grand Jury Testimony Raises New Questions in Teen’s Death

Neo Langston, an associate of singer D4vd, appeared this week before a Los Angeles County grand jury investigating the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Langston reportedly testified for less than an hour, far less time than others connected to the case, fueling speculation about the scope of his testimony and his role in the investigation. Because grand jury proceedings are secret, prosecutors have declined to comment, and no charges have been filed as detectives continue examining the circumstances surrounding the teen’s death.

Federal Government Pulls 700 Immigration Officers From Minnesota

The federal government will withdraw 700 immigration enforcement officers from Minnesota, scaling back Operation Metro Surge after weeks of protests and two fatal shootings involving federal agents. Border czar Tom Homan said the reduction lowers the federal presence but keeps staffing well above normal levels, citing cooperation with local law enforcement. State and local leaders welcomed the move while calling for the operation to end entirely and for independent investigations into the shootings.

LACMA Prepares to Enter a New Era With the Opening of the David Geffen Galleries

As LACMA prepares to open its long-awaited David Geffen Galleries this spring, the museum marks 20 years under CEO and director Michael Govan and a sweeping reimagining of how art is displayed. Designed by architect Peter Zumthor and anchored by Jeff Koons’ massive outdoor sculpture Split-Rocker, the new building reflects a shift away from traditional encyclopedic galleries toward global themes of migration and interconnectedness. The transformation has drawn praise and criticism alike, but positions LACMA for a bold new chapter in Los Angeles’ cultural landscape.
