Menendez Brothers Could Be Released in a Matter of Weeks

Lyle and Erik Menendez, convicted of killing their parents in 1989, could soon walk free after a California judge ruled them eligible for parole as youth offenders. Governor Gavin Newsom has withdrawn his request for further clemency investigations, clearing the way for a June 13 parole hearing. The brothers, who have spent 35 years in prison, admitted their guilt in a tearful court appearance earlier this week.

Judge Lifts Protest Buffer Zone Outside Karen Read Trial

A Massachusetts judge has lifted a 200-foot “buffer zone” outside the courthouse where Karen Read is on trial, allowing protestors to peacefully assemble once again. The decision came as the trial reached a critical moment, with a medical examiner testifying that she found no evidence consistent with a vehicle strike on the body of Read’s boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe. The controversial case has drawn intense public interest and legal scrutiny, including allegations of police misconduct and mishandling of evidence. Read’s defense team argues that O’Keefe’s death was a result of an altercation with another officer, not a hit-and-run as prosecutors allege.

HBO Max is returning to its roots, reclaiming the iconic HBO name after a brief, much-mocked stint as just “Max.” Warner Bros. Discovery, which dropped the HBO branding during a 2023 merger, took a playful swipe at itself this week while announcing the name change. Despite massive hits like The Last of Us and The White Lotus, the rebrand never quite resonated. Now, the company is leaning back into its prestige TV legacy as it aims for 150M+ subscribers by 2026.

In-N-Out is going clean. The beloved burger chain has announced a major menu update, removing artificial dyes from its Strawberry Shakes and Signature Pink Lemonade, and switching to real sugar ketchup in response to new FDA regulations. These changes are part of a broader industry shift toward more natural ingredients.
