SEIU Leader David Huerta Arraigned as Supporters Rallied in DTLA
SEIU California President David Huerta was arraigned Tuesday on a federal misdemeanor tied to his protest at the DTLA site of the first Trump-ordered immigration action in June. Supporters rallied outside the Roybal Federal Building, arguing that the charge was unjust and reflected what they described as the weaponization of the judicial system against advocates who spoke out during the chaotic immigration raids that swept Los Angeles this summer.

Hulu Renews All’s Fair for a Second Season Despite Harsh Reviews
All’s Fair is officially returning for Season 2 after becoming Hulu’s biggest scripted original debut in three years, even as critics gave the series a 3 percent score. The Los Angeles-set legal drama has found a devoted audience that helped push it to the top of Hulu’s rankings, and its starry cast, including Kim Kardashian, Glenn Close, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Teyana Taylor and Sarah Paulson, will return as production ramps up for spring 2026.
Slender Man Attacker Captured After Escaping Supervision; Body Cam Footage Released
Morgan Geyser, one of the girls convicted in the 2014 Slender Man stabbing, was taken into custody at an Illinois truck stop after tearing off her ankle monitor and fleeing a Wisconsin group home. Officials say the 23 year old traveled 170 miles with a man who has a criminal record and initially gave police a false name before telling them to Google her. Newly released body cam video shows the moment of her arrest. Geyser had been released earlier this year after serving 11 years in a mental health facility and now faces potential escape charges as authorities prepare to return her to Wisconsin.
LAPD Confirms Celeste Rivas Case Is Now a Murder Investigation
The LAPD has confirmed that the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez is now being treated as a murder investigation as detectives seek to block the release of autopsy records they say could compromise the case. Investigators also pushed back on viral online rumors, stating that reports of freezing or decapitation are false, and noted that no one is off the table as the probe continues.
Santa Monica Orders Waymo to Halt Overnight Charging After Resident Complaints
Santa Monica has ordered two Waymo self-driving taxi lots to stop all overnight charging after months of complaints from residents about noise, traffic and constant vehicle activity. The City Council voted 6-0 to require the lots to cease operations between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., citing disruptions that began shortly after the facilities opened in late 2024. Waymo says it provides tens of thousands of rides each week in Santa Monica and will continue working with the city to address neighborhood concerns.
