Their bond, built on empathy and determination, shows that with the right support, MS doesn’t have to dim the spotlight.

Venice Man Shot Defending Woman Died Honorably
Zackery Melton, 29, was fatally shot while defending a woman from a registered sex offender at Venice’s Westminster Dog Park. Known locally as “Turtle,” Melton was unhoused but deeply loved, a father of one with another child on the way. His mother said he died honorably, stepping in to protect someone else. The suspect, Tyrone Jones, fled in a silver Maserati and remains at large. Melton’s dog Max was found safe and will be rehomed on Catalina Island.
As Closure Looms, Superchief Gallery Calls on L.A.’s Creative Community for Survival
Superchief Gallery, a key player in L.A.’s underground art scene since 2012, is fighting to stay open amid mounting financial pressures. Known for its inclusive, edgy exhibitions and support for emerging artists like Linda Chen, the gallery has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise support before a potential closure on May 1. Founder Bill Dunleavy hopes to rally 3,000 supporters at $10/month to sustain Superchief’s community-driven, free programming. For many, the gallery is more than an art space — it’s a cultural lifeline and hub for creative freedom in L.A.
